The principle of Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA for short, is a model of cooperation between consumers and farmers: all members commit to making a monthly contribution for one year and thus support the farm. In return, the CSAs receive a weekly share of the harvest from the farm from May to December and bi-weekly from January to May.
For us, this means security in planning and financing: we can plan our cultivation specifically according to quantity and assortment, and the CSA shares the risk with us, e.g. in the event of crop failures due to extreme weather.
We value the direct exchange with our members and they are invited to participate in the farm activities. As an initiative of CSA, the group supports the producer, works on the farm on a voluntary basis, takes care of publicity and all organisational matters and exchanges information with each other in a dedicated forum.
In 2012 the first Group of Kiez & Land in Berlin-Schöneberg was found. Over the years, more groups have been established in Pankow, Wedding, Prenzlauer Berg and Treptow as well as Rostock.
The monthly rate is currently 87€ per CSA share.
